Coconut water is nature’s sports drink. This refreshing beverage is packed with important nutrients and electrolytes, making it an excellent alternative to regular water. If you’re currently getting into drinking coconut water for the first time, you might be looking for some fun ways to use it.

  1. Bring it Along on a Hike

There’s nothing like a long hike in nature. Not only does it refresh your spirit, but it also works your muscles, burns calories, and helps sculpt and tone your entire body. It’s important to stay hydrated during a workout, but the negative of hiking is you must carry everything along with you.

Since coconut water contains potassium, sodium, calcium, phosphorus, and magnesium, it can properly hydrate your body and replace the electrolytes you’re sweating out better than regular water. Therefore, when you have a limited amount of space in your backpack and a limited amount of weight you can carry, it makes sense to bring a bottle of coconut water along on your hike.

  1. Use It in Cocktails

Drinking can be dehydrating, so adding coconut water and all its wonderful electrolytes into your cocktail might help you reduce the chances of a hangover the next day. It also adds an awesome tropical flavor to any cocktail mix!

  1. Cook with it

You can use coconut water in any recipe that calls for coconut or coconut milk. Coconut is an important flavor in many curry dishes, so you along with the milk, you can add in a little water near the end of the cooking process to give the dish a little more tropical tang as well as additional antioxidants and minerals. You can also use it to create fresh salad dressings and other sauces. It makes an excellent addition to smoothies, too!

If you want to start your day off right, you need to hydrate your body as soon as you wake up. Water works, but having a glass of coconut water each morning can really take your hydration to the next level. You don’t take in any fluids while you’re asleep each night, and starting your day with coconut water will prevent you from playing catch up with your hydration all day long.
